Research Vision: Towards intelligent and responsible manufacturing systems (IRMS) that empower the delivery of on-demand products and services with enhanced cost-efficiency, responsiveness, and resilience, while advancing sustainability and well-being.
Research
Design, build and optimize intelligent manufacturing systems, aiming to address global manufacturing challenges in growing customization, digitalization, as well as social and environmental responsibility. The IRMS lab will focus on 1) intelligent and sustainable cyber-physical manufacturing systems, 2) efficient and safe human-robot collaborative manufacturing, and 3) fusion of knowledge and data for optimization of manufacturing operations.

Conference & Award-August 2024: Dr. Daqiang Guo received the Best Conference Paper Award-Second Prize at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Automation in Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics (iCaMaL2024), and served as Session Chair for the special session on “Digital Twin in Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing”.

The IRMS lab has openings for PhD/Mphil students, postdocs, research assistants, and visiting students in 2024/2025. Highly self-motivated students with backgrounds in manufacturing automation and robotics, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, production and operations management, and other related fields are welcome to reach out.
